In collaboration with artist Heidi Ratanavanich, we created a space within the Asian Arts Initiative gallery to ferment foods for the length of the winter show, culminating in a community meal in which visitors would be able to taste the ferments. We worked with ceramicist Miki Palchick to make the crocks and artist Andra Palchick to realize the mini-documentary, showing interviews with the participants who made ferments in exchange for crocks. This project explored cultural preservation, sustainable building practices, modes of food production and how we consume food with our family and friends in both private and public spaces.
